Bring Back Your Smile’s Function and Beauty

What Is Restorative Dentistry?

Life can take a toll on your teeth. Whether you’ve experienced tooth decay, damage, or tooth loss, restorative dentistry focuses on repairing and rebuilding your smile. We provide restorative dentistry, offering personalized solutions to bring back the health, function, and appearance of your teeth.

Our team combines advanced techniques with a compassionate approach to help you eat, speak, and smile confidently again. From fillings and crowns to implants and dentures, we’ll help you achieve a strong, beautiful smile that stands the test of time.

Our Restorative Dentistry Services

We offer a wide range of restorative dental treatments to address damaged, decayed, or missing teeth. Our solutions are designed to restore both function and aesthetics to your smile.

If you have a cavity or minor tooth damage, dental fillings can restore the tooth’s structure. We use tooth-coloured composite materials for a natural look, ensuring your filling blends seamlessly with your smile.

Dental crowns act as a protective “cap” for weakened or damaged teeth. They restore the tooth’s shape, strength, and function while improving its appearance. Crowns are a key part of restorative dentistry for teeth that have been fractured, decayed, or treated with a root canal.

If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental bridges fill the gap by using artificial teeth anchored to neighbouring natural teeth. Our restorative dental bridges help you regain your smile and chewing ability.

Dentures are a reliable solution for replacing multiple missing teeth. We offer both full and partial dentures, custom-designed for a comfortable and natural fit. Modern dentures allow you to smile, eat, and speak with confidence.

Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. They replace the tooth root with a titanium post, topped with a lifelike crown. Implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth, which is why they are widely used in restorative dentistry.

When tooth decay reaches the inner pulp, it can cause pain and infection. Root canal therapy saves the tooth by removing the infected tissue, cleaning the area, and sealing it to prevent further damage.

Our comprehensive approach ensures you receive the best solution for your needs, restoring your smile and quality of life.

The range of restorative treatment

  • Fillings For decay or small fractures: tooth-coloured composite, or amalgam where it suits.
  • Inlays and onlays For cavities too large for a filling but not requiring a full crown.
  • Crowns Where a tooth needs covering completely for strength.
  • Bridges To replace a missing tooth using the teeth either side for support.
  • Dentures, complete or partial, for multiple missing teeth.
  • Implants To replace a tooth root, supporting a crown, bridge or denture.
  • Root canal treatment To save a tooth whose nerve is infected.

Choosing between options

There is usually more than one reasonable way to deal with a missing or damaged tooth, and the right answer depends on the state of the neighbouring teeth, the bone underneath, how the gap affects your bite, cost, and how much treatment you want to go through.

A single missing tooth is the clearest example. An implant does not involve the neighbouring teeth but takes months and costs more. A bridge is quicker but requires reshaping the teeth either side. A partial denture is removable and least expensive but least comfortable. None of those is simply better than the others. They are different trade-offs, and it is your call once you understand them.

Why replacing a missing tooth matters

A gap is not only cosmetic. Teeth either side tend to tip into the space and the opposing tooth can over-erupt, which changes how your bite meets and makes cleaning harder. Bone in the area gradually resorbs when there is no tooth root loading it, which can make later treatment more complicated.

That said, some gaps genuinely do not need filling, a missing back molar with a stable bite is often reasonably left alone. We will tell you which situation you are in rather than treating every gap the same way.

How long restorations last

No restoration is permanent. Composite fillings commonly last five to ten years, crowns often ten to fifteen or more, bridges similar, implants frequently decades. Those are ranges, not promises. The variables are your bite force, whether you grind, how well the margins are kept clean, and plain luck.

What shortens them most is decay at the edges, so the ordinary business of brushing at the gum line and cleaning between teeth does more for the lifespan of a restoration than anything else available.

What restorative treatment costs in Ontario

Ontario dentists set their own fees, and most use the Ontario Dental Association's annual Suggested Fee Guide as a reference point. The fee for any given treatment depends on how much work is involved, the materials used, and whether anything else needs doing first, so a written estimate after an examination is the only figure worth relying on.

We will give you a written treatment plan with the fee codes before anything goes ahead, so you can send it to your insurer for a pre-determination and know what you will be paying before you commit.

If you are covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan, we are a participating provider and can bill the CDCP directly. If you have workplace or private insurance, we can submit the claim for you. Ask us about payment options if you would rather spread the cost.

Common questions

Are white fillings as strong as amalgam?

Modern composites are strong enough for most situations, including back teeth. Amalgam still has a place in some large cavities and where moisture control is difficult.

Should I replace my old amalgam fillings?

Not for their own sake. An amalgam filling that is intact and sealing well is doing its job, and replacing it means removing more tooth. They are replaced when they fail, fracture, or decay develops around them.

Can a badly damaged tooth always be saved?

Not always. If the fracture extends below the gum or too little sound tooth remains to hold a restoration, removal may be the realistic option. We will tell you plainly when that is the case.

How long will treatment take?

A filling is one appointment. A crown or bridge is usually two, a few weeks apart. An implant runs over several months, most of it healing time.

Does restorative treatment hurt?

It is done under local anaesthetic. Some sensitivity afterwards is common while the tooth settles, particularly after a deep filling.
