A family practice sees the same mouth change over decades. A child's first check-up is about getting comfortable in the chair and catching problems while they are small. In adulthood the work shifts towards keeping what is already there: fillings, crowns, gum health, the occasional root canal. Later on, it is often about replacing what has been lost and keeping dentures or implants comfortable. We see all of it, which means we get to know a mouth over time rather than meeting it at a crisis.
That continuity matters clinically. Comparing this year's X-rays with the ones from three years ago tells us more than either set does alone, and small changes in gum measurements are far easier to read when the same practice has been taking them.

What happens at your first visit
A conversation about your dental history, any pain or concerns, and what you want out of your care.
A full examination of teeth, gums, bite, and the soft tissues of the mouth, including an oral cancer screening.
X-rays where they are needed — we take new ones only when they will change what we do, and we will explain why.
A cleaning, unless there is something more urgent that needs attention first.
A written plan for anything that needs doing, with fees, so you can decide in your own time.
A first appointment usually runs about an hour. If you are nervous, tell us when you book. It changes how we pace the appointment, and it is a very common thing to say.

Common questions
Are you taking new patients?
Yes. Call 519-624-8767 or use the appointment request form and we will find you a time.
How often should I come in?
Every six months suits most people, but it is not a fixed rule. If your gums are healthy and you have had no decay for years, once a year may be enough. If you are prone to gum disease or decay, more often is better. We will tell you what we think and why.
Do you direct bill insurance?
We submit claims electronically for most insurers, including the Canadian Dental Care Plan. What your plan actually covers is between you and the insurer, so we recommend a pre-determination for anything substantial.
What if I have a dental emergency?
Call 519-624-8767. We keep time aside each day for urgent problems: pain, swelling, a broken tooth, or a tooth knocked out. If a tooth has been knocked out, keep it moist and come in straight away.
I have not been to a dentist in years. Is that a problem?
It is more common than you might think, and it is not something we comment on. We will look at where things stand, tell you what we find, and work through it in whatever order makes sense to you.

We are at 8 Main St in downtown Galt, near the Main Street bridge and a few minutes' walk from the Ainslie Street transit terminal. There is street parking on Main Street and paid parking in the Market Square lot.

Water Street Lot #2 is right around the corner and the most convenient of the 2 parking lots available. You are free to park in this lot at your own leisure.
